Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience working in a commercial or high-volume kitchen.
- A strong understanding of basic food safety practices.
- A Food Safety or Basic Cookery certificate (preferred but not required).
- The ability to handle the pressure of a busy kitchen while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong multitasking skills, making it look effortless to handle multiple orders at once.
- Excellent customer service skills for interacting with guests when required.
- A high level of personal hygiene and professional presentation.
This role is not for the faint-hearted! The kitchen can get extremely busy, so we’re looking for individuals who can stay calm under pressure and work efficiently to deliver high-quality food.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items following company recipes and instructions from the Head Chef.
- Ensure all mis-en-place is prepared fresh and ready for service.
- Manage stock levels, plan for changes in demand, and minimize food wastage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in your workstation and the entire kitchen.
- Follow food hygiene, health, and safety policies at all times.
- Assist with customer service and communicate effectively with other team members.
- Complete required food safety record-keeping tasks.
- Request stock from the Storeman or Supply Manager and ensure it is delivered to the kitchen.
- Support different areas of the kitchen as needed.
- Wash dishes, scrub pots, and sterilize kitchen equipment when necessary.
