Farm Labourer – Harvesting Needed at Howell Family Pumpkin Farm

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• No degree, certificate, or diploma required
• Experience is an asset, but not mandatory
• Ability to work in outdoor environments under various conditions (hot, wet/damp, dusty, noisy, and at heights)
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and carrying produce (up to 23 kg/50 lbs)
• Must have the right to work in Canada
• Steel-toed safety boots required

Responsibilities

• Harvest crops, including hand-harvesting vegetables
• Cut and cultivate agricultural crops
• Plant, irrigate, and maintain farm produce
• Apply fertilizers to enhance crop growth
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including farm trucks, tractors, and skid steers
• Grade vegetables and fruits according to size, shape, and quality
• Examine harvested products for quality and market readiness
• Detect disease and health problems in crops and farm produce
• Clean and maintain greenhouses and farm equipment

Other Responsibilities

• Assist in general farm maintenance and equipment handling
• Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures
• Support team members to maintain an efficient workflow
• Assist with inventory tracking and quality control measures
• Participate in seasonal farm activities such as soil preparation and crop rotation
• Ensure proper waste management and adherence to sustainable farming practices
• Monitor environmental conditions and adjust farming operations accordingly
• Assist in preparing harvested produce for distribution and sale
