Groenenboom Farms Ltd. is seeking a hardworking Beef Cattle Herdsperson to join our team in Coalhurst, AB. Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in varied outdoor conditions (hot, dusty, wet/damp, noisy, all weather conditions)
  • Experience with livestock care, feeding, and health monitoring
  • Physically fit to handle the demands of farm work
  • Must have the right to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess animal health, identifying and treating health issues as needed
  • Perform livestock feeding and ensure proper nutrition for cattle
  • Feed and tend to animals, ensuring their overall well-being
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, loaders, and feeding systems
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops used for cattle feed
  • Harvest crops and handle livestock-related farming operations
  • Perform general farm duties and contribute to daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with farm safety protocols and maintain hygiene standards

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in calving season and ensure newborn calves are properly cared for
  • Support in herd management tasks such as branding, tagging, and vaccinations
  • Monitor grazing and pasture conditions to ensure proper livestock feeding
  • Maintain farm infrastructure, including fencing, barns, and watering systems
  • Ensure proper waste management and sustainability practices on the farm
  • Participate in team training and skill development programs
  • Assist in seasonal farm projects and improvements to operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with farm owners and management to optimize productivity
