Currently, Electrix is hiring a Cable Jointer for its Distribution Planned Works team based in Upper Hutt, Wellington. This role involves installing and repairing LV, HV, and EHV underground cables within the candidate’s qualification level and Work Type Certificate (WTC) authority. Job Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- EWRB – full or limited license
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in distribution line work
- Sound knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Valid driver’s license (New Zealand or overseas)
- Availability to participate in a standby roster
Responsibilities
The Cable Jointer will be responsible for:
- Identifying electrical systems in preparation for work
- Installing and repairing underground cables according to industry standards
- Maintaining strong relationships with Electrix, Vector Networks staff, customers, and suppliers
- Ensuring tools and equipment are in good working condition
- Providing emergency repair assistance and participating in the faults standby roster
- Operating electrical equipment associated with electricity lines up to 33kV
- Adhering to company policies, legal, and regulatory requirements
