Pact, a well-established provider of community, vocational, and residential support services, is currently seeking dedicated Part-Time and Casual Community Support Workers to join its intellectual disability residential service in Porirua, Wellington. Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Genuine Passion for Support Work: Must be eager to support and empower people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives.
- Communication and Networking Skills: Ability to build relationships with clients, staff, and external agencies to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Previous Experience: Professional experience in intellectual disability support is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Driver’s License: A full driver’s license is required for this role.
- Basic Computer Skills: Must be comfortable with basic data entry and documentation.
- Work Visa Requirement: Applicants on a work visa must ensure at least 12 months of validity.
- Interview Availability: Candidates must be available for an in-person interview in Lower Hutt.
Responsibilities
As a Community Support Worker, your main responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with clients to help them set and achieve personal goals.
- Encouraging client participation in day-to-day activities at home and within the community.
- Supporting activities of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining hygiene.
- Assisting with medication management while ensuring client needs are met.
- Providing personal care support to clients with intellectual disabilities.
- Facilitating social and whanau (family) connections to promote inclusion and belonging.
- Motivating and empowering clients to lead a meaningful life filled with purpose.
- Accurately documented client progress and maintained records as required.
- Creating a safe and positive environment where clients feel valued and respected.
