Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dairy farm operations.
- Knowledge of livestock health management, feeding programs, and calving processes.
- Experience with milking systems (automated) and farm equipment such as tractors.
- Strong understanding of farm safety and biosecurity protocols.
- Ability to diagnose and treat livestock health issues.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily dairy farm operations, ensuring efficiency and high productivity.
- Monitor and maintain livestock health, identifying and treating health concerns as needed.
- Oversee the calving process, ensuring safe and healthy deliveries.
- Develop and implement feeding programs tailored to livestock nutritional needs.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors and automated milking systems.
- Ensure compliance with biosecurity and farm safety regulations.
- Perform general farm duties, including crop services such as plowing, irrigating, and harvesting.
- Train and supervise farm workers, ensuring best practices in dairy farm management.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock health, feeding schedules, and farm activities.
- Coordinate with veterinarians and suppliers to ensure proper livestock care and farm operations.
- Manage inventory and order farm supplies, ensuring adequate stock for daily operations.
- Monitor environmental conditions and adjust farm operations accordingly to maintain livestock well-being.
- Implement and oversee waste management procedures to maintain hygiene and sustainability.
- Ensure proper milking procedures are followed to maintain milk quality standards.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with farm expansion projects and implementation of new technologies.
- Monitor pasture and grazing conditions to optimize livestock feeding.
- Ensure proper maintenance and repairs of farm structures and equipment.
- Participate in staff training and development programs to enhance team efficiency.
- Maintain strong communication with farm owners and management regarding operational updates.
- Assist in planning and executing farm sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
- Support in budgeting and financial planning for farm operations, ensuring cost-effective practices.
