South Pacific Meats (SPM) is looking for a highly skilled Engineering Manager to join its operations in Christchurch City, Canterbury, New Zealand. As a key member of the Site Management Team, the Engineering Manager will play a crucial role in managing plant assets, leading a team of engineers (mechanical and electrical), and ensuring smooth operations across the plant. Job Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must have:
- Relevant engineering qualifications and/or extensive experience in a similar role.
- A strong leadership background with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility, preferably in a hygienic food production environment.
- Expertise in preventative maintenance and familiarity with CMMS systems (MEX is preferred but not essential).
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, coupled with effective planning abilities.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving with a can-do attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting and documentation.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety standards, with knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, is an advantage.
- Additional certifications such as confined space and working-at-heights training are beneficial.
- Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand is required.
Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for:
