Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Experience in farm work or agriculture (1 to less than 7 months preferred).
- No specific educational requirements (No degree, certificate, or diploma needed).
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Comfortable working at heights and in hot conditions.
- Familiarity with green job initiatives is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
- Perform hand harvesting of fruits and vegetables.
- Load, unload, and transfer crates, farm produce, and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area and dispose of waste properly.
- Handle heavy loads and ensure the proper storage of harvested crops.
- Identify and sort produce based on quality and standards.
- Assist in greenhouse operations and maintain crop health.
- Adhere to farm safety regulations and environmental sustainability practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist in greenhouse maintenance and irrigation systems.
- Participate in seasonal crop rotation and soil preparation.
- Monitor pest and disease control measures under supervision.
- Support farm supervisors in implementing efficient harvesting techniques.
- Maintain farm equipment and tools, ensuring proper usage and storage.
- Collaborate with team members to improve farm productivity.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Repetitive tasks requiring stamina and endurance.
- Ability to handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and manual labor.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat.
- Ability to distinguish between colors for sorting produce.
