Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Experience in farm work or agriculture (1 to less than 7 months preferred).
  • No specific educational requirements (No degree, certificate, or diploma needed).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in hot conditions.
  • Familiarity with green job initiatives is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
  • Perform hand harvesting of fruits and vegetables.
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, farm produce, and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area and dispose of waste properly.
  • Handle heavy loads and ensure the proper storage of harvested crops.
  • Identify and sort produce based on quality and standards.
  • Assist in greenhouse operations and maintain crop health.
  • Adhere to farm safety regulations and environmental sustainability practices.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in greenhouse maintenance and irrigation systems.
  • Participate in seasonal crop rotation and soil preparation.
  • Monitor pest and disease control measures under supervision.
  • Support farm supervisors in implementing efficient harvesting techniques.
  • Maintain farm equipment and tools, ensuring proper usage and storage.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve farm productivity.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Repetitive tasks requiring stamina and endurance.
  • Ability to handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, and manual labor.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors for sorting produce.
