Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of fruit grading and sorting is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the technique of hoeing between the rows of crops.
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
  • Grade vegetables and fruits based on size, shape, color, and volume for market pricing.
  • Pack fruits and vegetables efficiently for distribution.
  • Pick row and orchard crops, ensuring proper handling techniques.
  • Remove suckers and water sprouts manually from fruit trees.
  • Sort fruits and vegetables to ensure quality control.
  • Perform weeding and maintain the cleanliness of the farm.
  • Harvest crops following established procedures.
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce.
  • Examine the product for quality and readiness for the market.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with farm visitors or buyers.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in farm maintenance, including irrigation setup and repair.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Ensure farm safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining farm infrastructure such as trellises and shade structures.
  • Participate in sustainable farming practices to improve soil and crop health.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to improve efficiency in harvesting and sorting.
