Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- No formal education is required (no degree, certificate, or diploma needed)
- Previous farming experience is an asset but not mandatory
- Be able to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime if required
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Being able to drive a manual transmission vehicle is an asset
Responsibilities
- Plant, cultivate, and irrigate vegetable crops
- Apply hoeing techniques to manage weed growth between crop rows
- Hand-harvest vegetables with precision and care
- Fertilize and spray crops as needed to ensure healthy growth
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors and vegetable harvesters
- Examine harvested produce to ensure quality and market readiness
- Sort fresh produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
- Load and unload harvested crops for storage and transportation
Other Responsibilities
- Assist in soil preparation, composting, and crop rotation planning
- Maintain and repair farm infrastructure, including irrigation systems and storage areas
- Participate in sustainability initiatives to improve farm efficiency and reduce waste
- Follow farm safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment
- Support farm expansion projects and implementation of innovative agricultural techniques
- Work collaboratively with farm supervisors and fellow workers to enhance productivity
