Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
7 months to less than 1 year of experience in farm operations.
Experience working with dairy cattle.
Strong knowledge of livestock health management and calving processes.
Familiarity with farm machinery, including automated milking systems.
Ability to lead and supervise a small team effectively.
Strong organizational skills to develop specific work plans and ensure productivity.
Responsibilities
Supervise and oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
Conduct artificial insemination, spraying, shearing, and disinfecting livestock housing.
Monitor and oversee the calving process to ensure healthy births.
Diagnose and treat livestock health concerns promptly.
Maintain livestock performance records and ensure accurate quality control documentation.
Supervise and oversee breeding programs and other livestock-related initiatives.
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including automated milking systems.
Perform general farm duties, including feeding, handling animals, and maintaining farm hygiene.
Organize and delegate tasks to ensure smooth operations and productivity.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist with the implementation of farm sustainability initiatives and biosecurity measures.
Monitor environmental conditions and adjust farming practices as needed.
Train and mentor farm workers to improve efficiency and best practices.
Maintain clear communication with farm owners and management.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm structures and equipment.
Assist in budgeting and financial planning for farm operations to ensure cost-effective practices.
Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene regulations for both livestock and workers.
