Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in farm operations.
  • Experience working with dairy cattle.
  • Strong knowledge of livestock health management and calving processes.
  • Familiarity with farm machinery, including automated milking systems.
  • Ability to lead and supervise a small team effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills to develop specific work plans and ensure productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
  • Conduct artificial insemination, spraying, shearing, and disinfecting livestock housing.
  • Monitor and oversee the calving process to ensure healthy births.
  • Diagnose and treat livestock health concerns promptly.
  • Maintain livestock performance records and ensure accurate quality control documentation.
  • Supervise and oversee breeding programs and other livestock-related initiatives.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including automated milking systems.
  • Perform general farm duties, including feeding, handling animals, and maintaining farm hygiene.
  • Organize and delegate tasks to ensure smooth operations and productivity.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of farm sustainability initiatives and biosecurity measures.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and adjust farming practices as needed.
  • Train and mentor farm workers to improve efficiency and best practices.
  • Maintain clear communication with farm owners and management.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm structures and equipment.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial planning for farm operations to ensure cost-effective practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene regulations for both livestock and workers.
