Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in farm operations.
- Experience working with dairy cattle.
- Strong knowledge of livestock health management and calving processes.
- Familiarity with farm machinery, including automated milking systems.
- Ability to lead and supervise a small team effectively.
- Strong organizational skills to develop specific work plans and ensure productivity.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
- Conduct artificial insemination, spraying, shearing, and disinfecting livestock housing.
- Monitor and oversee the calving process to ensure healthy births.
- Diagnose and treat livestock health concerns promptly.
- Maintain livestock performance records and ensure accurate quality control documentation.
- Supervise and oversee breeding programs and other livestock-related initiatives.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including automated milking systems.
- Perform general farm duties, including feeding, handling animals, and maintaining farm hygiene.
- Organize and delegate tasks to ensure smooth operations and productivity.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of farm sustainability initiatives and biosecurity measures.
- Monitor environmental conditions and adjust farming practices as needed.
- Train and mentor farm workers to improve efficiency and best practices.
- Maintain clear communication with farm owners and management.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm structures and equipment.
- Assist in budgeting and financial planning for farm operations to ensure cost-effective practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene regulations for both livestock and workers.
