Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • 7+ years of quantity surveying experience in steel construction within New Zealand.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution.
  • Strong numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a thorough approach to contract management.
  • Strong negotiation and client relationship skills to maintain and develop business partnerships.
  • A flexible and cooperative attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment.
  • Experience with Tekla (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Ability to mentor junior QS staff and ensure overall quality assurance within the QS team.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will be responsible for:

  • Measuring, quoting, and negotiating contracts for various projects.
  • Managing contract administration, including variations, progress claims, invoicing, and final accounts.
  • Setting up new contracts in Simpro and other job management systems.
  • Conducting post-contract job evaluations to assess financial performance.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Playing an active role in business development and procurement of new projects.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior QS staff, ensuring quality assurance and best practices are maintained.
