Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- 7+ years of quantity surveying experience in steel construction within New Zealand.
- A Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution.
- Strong numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a thorough approach to contract management.
- Strong negotiation and client relationship skills to maintain and develop business partnerships.
- A flexible and cooperative attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment.
- Experience with Tekla (preferred but not mandatory).
- Ability to mentor junior QS staff and ensure overall quality assurance within the QS team.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will be responsible for:
- Measuring, quoting, and negotiating contracts for various projects.
- Managing contract administration, including variations, progress claims, invoicing, and final accounts.
- Setting up new contracts in Simpro and other job management systems.
- Conducting post-contract job evaluations to assess financial performance.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
- Playing an active role in business development and procurement of new projects.
- Supervising and mentoring junior QS staff, ensuring quality assurance and best practices are maintained.
