Job Requirements
Candidates must have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate to qualify for this position. While prior experience is considered an asset, it is not mandatory. Applicants must also possess the following:
- Valid Class 1 or A Driver’s License
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs)
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and teamwork
- This job is physically demanding, requiring prolonged sitting and handling of cargo. Drivers must be able to work independently, manage schedules, and ensure timely deliveries.
Responsibilities
The selected candidates will be responsible for:
- Loading and unloading goods
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks
- Inspecting vehicle conditions (tires, brakes, lights, and other equipment)
- Performing emergency roadside repairs if needed
- Conducting pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections
- Recording essential data (cargo details, hours of service, fuel consumption, trip reports)
- Ensuring cargo safety and security through proper tarping and handling
- Communicating with dispatch for instructions and updates
